This Privacy Policy explains how the Telegram Media Downloader Chrome extension ("the Extension") handles information.

1. Overview
Telegram Media Downloader is designed to let users save the media of the currently opened channel or chat in Telegram Web K into a single local ZIP file, including videos, images, GIFs, and voice and audio messages. The Extension operates only after a direct user action.

2. Data We Process
To provide its core functionality, the Extension may process:
- Media from the currently opened Telegram Web K channel or chat, such as videos, images, GIFs, voice messages and audio messages
- Message metadata supplied by Telegram Web for that media, such as byte size, MIME type, duration, resolution, message date and message id
- The title of the currently opened chat, used for the archive filename and the archive manifest
- Limited tab information needed to determine whether Telegram Web is open and whether a chat is currently active
- Extension settings saved by the user, such as selected media types, parallel downloads, delay between files, retries, compression, and the position and collapsed state of the in-page panel

3. How Data Is Used
Processed data is used only to:
- Create a downloadable ZIP archive of the media in the currently opened Telegram Web K channel or chat at the user's request
- Number and name the files inside that archive and write the accompanying manifest
- Show the Extension status in the in-page panel and in the toolbar popup
- Store and reapply the user's own settings

4. Data Sharing and Selling
We do not sell personal information.
We do not transfer or share user data with third parties for advertising, profiling, analytics, or unrelated purposes.
Data is used only for the Extension's single purpose: user-initiated local downloading of the media in the currently opened Telegram Web K channel or chat.

5. Remote Code and External Processing
The Extension does not use remote code execution. All code it runs ships inside the extension package, including the ZIP library.
The Extension does not send media, archive files or metadata to our own external servers.
All archive creation is performed locally in the user's browser environment.

6. Data Storage and Retention
- Exported ZIP files are saved locally by the user through Chrome's download system.
- Extension settings are stored locally in the page's local storage under the key tgdl:prefs.
- Downloaded media is held in the memory of the open tab only until the archive has been handed to the browser.
- We do not maintain a separate central database of user conversations, exports, or browsing activity.

7. User Control
Users can control data handling by:
- Choosing when to run the Extension, as all downloads are user-initiated
- Choosing which Telegram Web K channel or chat to open before starting a download
- Choosing which media types are included
- Pausing or cancelling a running download at any time
- Deleting downloaded archive files at any time
- Clearing the locally stored settings through browser settings or Extension removal
- Uninstalling the Extension at any time

8. Permissions Explanation
The Extension requests only permissions necessary for its functionality, including:
- host access to web.telegram.org: run the in-page panel and read the media of the chat the user has opened, so the requested local archive can be created
- scripting: used by the toolbar popup for a single action, moving the in-page panel back into view after the user has dragged it off screen or left it collapsed
The Extension does not request access to any other host.

9. Children's Privacy
The Extension is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children.

10. Security
We apply reasonable measures to minimize data access and limit processing to what is necessary for the Extension's function.
The Extension processes only the data needed for the requested export and keeps it on the user's device.

11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any updates will be reflected by revising the "Last Updated" date.
